Golden Jubilee Celebration 2018

The year-long Golden Jubilee celebrations of Chaiduar College, Gohpur that started in mid February 2017 came to an end on November 4,2018 with an open house addressed by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. In his closing address Sonowal congratulated the masses for piling up an institution of the stature of Chaiduar College. He advised the students to be more responsible towards anything they do.

Earlier , during the first three days the event drew crowd from all walks of life across the Gohpur Sub Division attending various events in large numbers. The array of celebrations included hoisting of ceremonial flag on the inaugural day by Dr Anjan Kumar Ozah, Principal and Chief Secretary of Golden Jubilee Celebrations Committee followed by offering of tributes, plantation of saplings, inauguration of newly constructed Boy's Common Room and Students' Union building by local MLA Utpal Borah, Canteen by Lalit Borah, Secretary in charge of Revenue and Disaster Management and also the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Assam on day 1. The day also saw unveiling bust statue of Dr Bhupen Hazarika by Dr. Surja Das, former Director, AIR, Guwahati, inauguration of Book Fair by Satyen Gogoi, former Inspector General, Assam Police and inauguration of exhibition by Promod Borthakur, MLA of Biswanath. The afternoon was occupied by Felicitation Ceremony where many dignitaries in field of art, culture and literature having close connection with the Chaiduar College were acknowledged for their contribution towards the society. The day one came to an end with Cultural evening by local artists which enthralled the audience who were present in large numbers till mid night. The cultural evening was inaugurated by Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika.

The penultimate day of the celebration saw a colourful cultural rally depicting unity in diversity of the state and folk richness of the place. Tezpur MLA Brindaban Goswami kicked off the rally. The afternoon of day three was a testimony of cultural harmony of the neighbouring state Arunachal Pradesh and Host Assam as various cultural exchange programs were on platter to mesmerise the gathering. The evening saw a magnetic performance by invited artist Jina Rajkumai. Rajkumari is a recipient of "GURU AWARD" from Eastern zonal Culture Centre, Kolkata, Govt. of India. She also received the Honour of "BISHESH PARODORSHI AWARD" (Award of Excellence). from Tai Ahom Development Council, Goct.of Assam.Mrs. Rajkumari received the Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt.of India for her research work onSpring Dances of Assam. She is an empanelled Fok Singer & Dancer of Indian Council for cultural relation, Department of External Affairs, Govt. of India. Mrs. Rajkumari is also a regular B-High graded artist of All India Radio & Doordarshan, Guwahati, Assam. She has also performed all throughout India and abroad Jina Rajkumari acclaimed as a leading exponent of Folk Song and Dance Tradition of Assam.

In nutshell, Chaiduar College Gohpur which started it's infant journey 50 years back has matured to a firm pillar in the higher education realm of the state. The celebration might have ended but the journey of excellence will continue today, tomorrow and forever.
